Joseph Scalia III, Psya.D. is a psychoanalyst in private practice, and a cultural and environmental critic-activist. Dr. Scalia's major psychoanalytic orientation has incorporated the oeuvres of Christopher Bollas, Jacques Lacan, and the l'Ecole Freudienne du Québec of GIFRIC (Interdisciplinary Freudian Group for Clinical and Cultural Research and Intervention).

With Lynne Scalia, Ed.D., he is co-director of the Institute for a Democratic Psychoanalytic Analysis (IDP). IDP aims to face up to destructive rigidities of today's typical psychoanalytic schools. That work goes hand in hand with all IDP affiliates' co-creation of a new path forward.
